History of our company
Connected to the region
When company founder Harald Esser first saw the light of day in 1964 in Bergheim (Erft), no one could have foreseen that a connection to the largest employer in the region – namely – would be so influential on the rest of his life.
During his school years, he had his first experience with electrical engineering at summer jobs. Once electrified by this profession, he began training at RWE in 1980 to become a power-plant electrician. During his electrical-engineering studies, he gained a lot of practical experience at, among others, Siemens, RWE, BEA, and GEZ. Later he held senior positions as a construction-site manager, project manager, and department head at SAG, Miebach, Innecken, Köhler, and GA LBS.
In his many years of professional work, his desire grew stronger and stronger to work on his own ideas and to allow room for customized solutions. Then, in 2006, the founding of PBE - Planung und Beratung für Elektrotechnik [planning and consulting for electrical engineering] became the first step towards independence. And here, too, RWE was represented again as the first major customer in the company’s history.
Regular PBE customers now include, among others, RWE Power, BOWA (drilling and water management), RSB, Siemens (Aachen hospital, RTL Cologne exhibition halls, Lindt&Sprüngli), Aluminium Norf Dormagen, Thyssen Krupp Fördertechnik, VACON , Köhl, and GEW Rheinenergie.
Since its first hour, the company’s philosophy has been to specialize in services in the field of electrical engineering and to provide customers truly customized solutions. Whether it is to support the customer according to his ideas only in parts of his project, to accompany him as support over greater lengths, or to develop the project for him completely – it is all done customized to the customer. Our philosophy is the belief that a company’s most important asset is a staff who is motivated and well trained and who will implement correct solutions competently. That’s why we regularly invest in training and continuing education for our team, we place a great value on a good work environment, and we offer performance-based pay.
This approach and the successfully advancing specialization proved Esser, the “businessman,” right. After three years, PBE had 25 employees and in November 2008 it moved to the Bergheim/Paffendorf business park.
This location provides 270 square meters (2900 square feet) of office space, 450 square meters (4800 square feet) of workshop space, and a parking lot.
